In case you successfully installed your local SAP Portal, you’ll have to fine tune it by performing some additional steps. One of those steps is applying a license key, based on your local computer hardware key. Otherwise, your installation will only work for about 90 days or so. So, follow the steps shown below to be able to achieve this.
1. Run a command prompt as SAP admin user (<sysid>adm user). Alternative, you can also logon to Windows using your <sysid>adm user and then executing the command prompt using “Run command > cmd.exe”:

2. In the command prompt, execute command saplicense -get. The system will return the hardware key corresponding to your local computer:

3. You must now e-mail this hardware key to your basis personnel, in order for them to create and validate the installation in the landscape for your local instance. You should receive a license.txt file.
4. After receiving it, logon to the Visual Administrator tool and browse to Server > Services > Licensing Adapter. Install the license from the local drive.

5. You should now be able to use your installation without restrictions.
